Disease Intervention Specialists work within the STD control program — and alongside other Health Department Programs, to help track and fight outbreaks of sexually transmitted diseases. Duties are primarily performed in the field, often in high-risk areas of Philly. You’ll conduct interviews, collect survey and community assessment data, perform contact tracing, connect patients to care and support services, and do many forms of community outreach. DIS are also involved in outbreak investigation and emergency response.
Ideal candidates will be curious by nature with a drive to investigate, be comfortable working with and around others, be community-driven and hands-on, and be willing to handle sensitive, personal health data.
The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional night and weekend hours, depending on need.
